Joe Laiacona is a Progressive Democrat who seeks to lead Chicago by giving a voice to the 99%. Joe is a descendant of immigrants, the child of working and entrepreneurial parents and a life-long learner and teacher.
He is a ten-year resident of Albany Park, a retired educator, computer professional, avid gardener and the father of two grown daughters.
He is a community member of Roosevelt High School Local School Council, a voting member of Northside Democracy For America, and a founder of the Part-time Faculty Association at Columbia College, where he taught for more than 20 years.
Joe has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from St. Michael’s College, Winooski, Vermont and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Indiana University at Fort Wayne, Indiana. His career has focussed on Education, and Publishing, as a writer, copywriter, and teacher, with a one year stint as an English Teacher at Vergennes Union High School, Vergennes, Vermont and more than twenty years as an Instructor at Columbia College Chicago, where he taught introductory computer use and programming.
His varied career has also included working at a drug rehabilitation facility, as a computer salesperson, as a self-employed entrepreneur in publishing and as a computer consulting.
